Dr. Steven Smunt, Dentist
Dr. Steve Smunt received his professional degree from the University of Illinois College of Dentistry, Chicago, in 1980. Raised in Westchester, IL., he graduated from Proviso West High School in 1972, and moved on to attend the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign, where, in 1976, he was awarded his Bachelor of Science in Microbiology.
In 1980, Dr Smunt was granted licenses to practice general dentistry in Illinois and Wisconsin. He enjoys all the fields of concentration encompassed by general dentistry. He advanced his knowledge in orthodontics through post-grad training in 1989-1990, sponsored by the American Academy of Gnathological Orthopedics, and in 1992, sponsored by the American Orthodon tic Society. He currently maintains accreditation as a general dentist through the Academy of General Dentistry.
Dr. Steve and his wife, Mary Ann, have resided in St. Charles since 1981. They are parents to four children, all of whom
graduated from St. Charles East High School. Two of Dr. Smunt’s passions are historic preservation and antique collecting. Steve and Mary Ann own and maintain a historic, 1898, Queen Ann house as a designated city landmark. Dr. Smunt is the current chairman of the St. Charles Historic Preservation Commission.
Laura Bublitz, Clinical Assistant
Laura has been a dental assistant since 1985. She earned her A.S. and A.A. degrees from College of DuPage, and received certification in dental radiology from the University of Illinois College of Dentistry. Laura resides in West Chicago with her husband Scott, where he is co-owner of Turner Junction Printing, a family owned and operated business since 1982. Her hobbies include gardening, golf, bike riding, and antique collecting. She recently became a vendor at local farmers markets and craft shows.
Mary Ann Smunt, Treasurer
Mary Ann Smunt, Dr. Smunt’s wife, is the Corporate Treasurer, managing payroll and disbursements. She states, “I am fortunate to be a part of a well organized, fun loving, and hard working dental team”. Mary Ann works three quarter time as a reading and math tutor, both in private and in the Geneva School District 304.
Mary Ann is the mother of four healthy, adult children, and the daughter of two healthy, totally wonderful parents. She loves nature, wildlife, adventure, and travel – particularly on her bicycle.
Sherry Thompson, Office Administrator
Sherry Thompson has worked in the dental profession since 1989, first as a dental clinician, and within the last 3 years has taken over the responsibilities as Office Administrator for the practice. She was born and raised in Cortland, Illinois,and graduated from De Kalb High School in 1975. Sherry is the mother of 5 adult children, and proud “Nana” of 7 grandchildren. Sherry enjoys the interaction with patients at all levels. She enjoys reading old 1800’s romance novels, spending time with her family, her church, cooking, and baking. She has an interest in antiquing and stained glass art, and hopes one day to be able to further develop these interests.
Linda Lindberg, Hygienist
Linda Marie Lindberg has worked at Dr.Smunt’s dental office for 16 years as a Registred Denatl Hygienist. Linda is a native of Massachusetts and graduated from Westbrook College (now University of New England) in Portland Maine in 1979. Committed to continuing education, Linda is a member of the Fox Valley Dental Hygiene Association. Husband Mark, and Linda have 2 sons, Peter and Jack. The Lindbergs attend Bethlehem Lutheran Church and are involved with Boy Scouts of America Troop 56 Wildrose School. Linda is a member of Altrusa International a service organization for professional women that promotes literacy in the Fox Valley as well as globally.
